What is Post Registration Training and Learning (PRTL)?
Continuous learning and development throughout your career is essential in building your confidence and practice as a social care practitioner, manager and social worker. It supports you to:

- keep up-to-date with developing practice, legislation and policy;
- provide evidence that you have met the Standards of Conduct and Practice.
Social care practitioners, managers and social workers must undertake and record a minimum of 90 hours of continuous learning and development during each registration period – this is called Post Registration Training and Learning (PRTL).

PRTL Audit
Each year the Social Care Council audits a random sample of registrants. This means at your renewal point you could be asked to submit an audit submission form. This is why keeping a record of your learning is important, and keeping up-to-date with emails or texts from the Social Care Council.
