Social Care Council Safeguarding: Deprivation of Liberty

This badge is awarded to social care registrants who demonstrate that they understand what Deprivation of Liberty means and what the Deprivation of Liberty Safeguards are. This is a pilot badge that the Social Care Council is undertaking in partnership with ARC member organisations.

 

Description

This badge is awarded to Social Care Council registrants who demonstrate that they understand what Deprivation of Liberty means and what the Deprivation of Liberty Safeguards are.

The Deprivation of Liberty Safeguards (DOLs) are an amendment to the Mental Capacity Act 2005. The Mental Capacity Act allows restraints and restrictions to be used. By completing this badge social care registrants will be demonstrating that they understand what deprivation of liberty means and that they know how to appropriately apply the Deprivation of Liberty safeguards which their setting. Registrants can discuss this learning/badge with their manager and/or colleagues.
