Loneliness and Staying Connected

This resource will enable social care workers to learn about loneliness, its impact on the people they are supporting and how they can contribute to reducing loneliness.


The resource is also relevant for social workers, other health and social care professionals, community groups, voluntary sector and churches who are all trying to support people at this crucial time.

The resource has been funded by the Department of Health and has been endorsed by Sean Holland, Chief Social Work Officer at the Department of Health.

The content of the resource has been developed by the Northern Ireland Social Care Council in partnership with Age NI, Association for Real Change (ARC), BEE You Counselling, Belfast Health and Social Care Trust, CLARE CIC, Clogher Valley Care Ltd, Harmony Community Care Services, Orchardville, Red Cross, Rodgers Community Care and independent contributors; Gretta Thompson and Fiona Murphy.
